Four Years of Transfusion News

July 28, 2016

July 30th 2016 marks the four-year anniversary of Transfusion News. It has been exciting to watch the website grow from simple news updates every month to weekly summaries along with a calendar of events and questions of the day.  I have selected a few summaries of studies of utmost importance during this past year.

Blood from Younger Donors Does Not Affect Patient Survival after Transfusion

Pathogen Reduction Decreases Transfusion-Transmitted Malaria

Age of Red Blood Cells Does Not Affect Lactic Acidosis

I would also like to welcome our new Assistant Editors, Dr. Diarmaid Ó Donghaile from Trinity College in Dublin, Ireland and Ms. Lorraine Blagg from Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. Dr. Donghaile and Ms. Blagg will be contributing regularly to our “Question of the Day” section.  To sign-up for a free subscription to the “Question of the Day” section, please follow this link: https://transfusionnews.com/path-questions/.

I would like to thank Bio-Rad Laboratories for their support of Transfusion News. Their sponsorship makes the website possible and free resource to all.  Our editorial team appreciates that they view the website as a valuable resource for the transfusion community.

Thank you also to our loyal readers for your support. We hope that you will continue to visit and enjoy the website and share it with colleagues.
